lululemon puts ‘local’ at the forefront of all experiences — in and outside of the store. From ambassador-led sweats to exciting local partnerships, you can find lulu’s classic appeal and more at The Yards Local. We chatted with lululemon to learn more about the brand’s new concept.
What’s the ethos behind the Local? Our local concept stores give residents a place to connect, collaborate and create in a way that’s unique to them and the community. Our Mile End local is geared around the run community in Montreal, while our Bondi Beach local is focused on supporting the region’s water-centric activities and lifestyle.
What makes The Yards Local distinct? It is very much tied to our brand ambassadors who lead our weekly sweats and Sunday yoga sessions. Tim Williams who runs HIIT the Riverfront as part of the CapRiv Fitness Series. We also work with off-road coach and trainer, Tarah Romano; DC entrepreneur and co-founder of sunōmi switchel, Nikki Blank; and our store manager Rachel Hoopes, to name a few.
“I’ve become a part of a community that encourages me to be brave and confident. I am becoming my wildest dream.”@timbowilliams
Why The Yards? We wanted to provide a space for the Navy Yard community to connect, sweat and discover at the local. The Yards lululemon brings the neighborhood together through ambassador-led sweats, events and local partner activations. The ‘local’ is at the forefront of all experiences — in and out of the store.
Where else can we see the local? To embody our experiential brand ambitions, we recently opened a 20,000 square-foot store in Chicago’s Lincoln Park in July, complete with yoga and meditation studios, healthy juice and food, and areas for community gatherings.
Talk to us about some exciting local partnerships. Whether it’s a custom lululemon juice, created and bottled by Juice Laundry down the street, wine tastings with District Winery, or make-your-own Mother’s Day cards with Samantha Testa of Painted Palettes, we’re always looking for new ways to blend community and creativity. We partner with yoga instructors from around Washington, DC for our weekly complimentary yoga sessions every Sunday at 10:00 am. We also partner with VIDA Fitness and the Capitol Riverfront BID on the ‘Run the Riverfront’ series every Thursday at 7:00 pm. We have a lot going on. Follow @theyardsdc and @capitolriverfront for fall events at The Yards Local.
